Fathers Day Gift Ideas-Fathers Day Gifts For Him
68What Father's Day Gift Ideas Come to Mind When You Plan Your Father's Day Gifts For Him?
Gadgets, tools, electronics, gift baskets, outdoor, sports, flowers, special getaway, family time, . . . hmmm . . choices! Notice the word "tie" is nowhere in this sentence.
Father's day thoughts bring mixed emotions for me, because my dad is gone . . .
It was an overcast day when mom called asking me to come to the house, "Today!" I knew he was gone immediately and didn't want to go to the house for that kind of news. So I argued with mom about coming over and she insisted. I somehow imagined that by not going home that day I could avoid what I already knew was true.
I was being selfish, because I knew that moms heart was breaking, just like mine was, and that we especially needed each other right now - Today. My brother, Reggie, was at the house first, but we both heard the news together. "Your dad died," she choked and sobbed in the same breath.
In a refusal to believe what mom was telling us, I fled the house with tears rushing down my face screaming, "NO, NO, NO, NOT my dad, NOT my dad!" to no one but the horses grazing in the field, who were oblivious to our heart-wrenching loss. My heart could not absorb what my head was trying to process. My hero was gone. Forever. My world would never be the same. He was only 52-years-old to my 25-years.
I still miss his calm reassurances that everything was going to be fine, his out loud laugh that lit up his face, his warm, affectionate hugs and his willingness to just listen without judgment or criticism. I miss the delight on his face when we made something for him and how he would use it up until it was ragged from wear.
You would think the moon and sun sat on our heads when dad was around.
Father's Day lets me remember dad with the gift of flowers. I won't go to a grave, where he lays stone cold - Not even since he was buried. I go to a bird sanctuary or a lake or river or a meadow and I take flowers with me and leave them there. That's where my dad would be. Dad would be outside with nature and enjoying the gift of time with us.
. . . If you are one of those lucky people who get to decide on what to get your dad, brother, son, uncle, nephew, even a mom who takes on both father and mother roles, or favorite male role model then these unique father's day gift ideas might interest you.
Before we begin, though, think about how many ties your dad - Already - has.
Do you automatically head for the tie section because it is easy and fast?
If you do then think about substituting that tie with a breakfast gift basket - Cook for dad at his house (if you live close enough).
Does your dad live for ties?
Love ties?
Wear ties a lot? . . . didn't think so!
If money is no obstacle then luxury gifts are appreciated. For instance, electronics, music, and photography equipment.
- Surround Sound TV, 3-D TV with 3-D Glasses
- DVD, Blue Ray Player
- IPod, MP3 Player
- Digital radio, stereo, game console
- Handheld camcorders, cameras, revolving digital picture frames
Time together or time Away - Give dad the gift idea of time to himself or with you - A weekend getaway near or far -
Or, better yet - Is there an adventure that he always wanted to take - no matter how 'far out' it may seem to you.
Like a ride in a hot air balloon, sky diving, scuba diving, dune buggy racing, archery, paint ball guns, white water rafting, a special game or concert they have wanted to go to for awhile?
Make them a coupon, buy them a ticket, two tickets so they can take you too, and you can have that adventure together. Time is a gift.
Fathers Day Gift Ideas-Fathers Day Or Any Day
Tools seem to be easier for men to buy for men. If you want to buy a tool, but struggle with which one to get, then you'll find it best to get a tool related to their hobbies or special interests - gardening tools for gardening, outdoor tools for outdoor projects like building a deck, a wood shed, a lawn tool shed, or even an outdoor cooking area.
Indoor tools for wood carving or home projects that they just can't find time for, tools for their boat or auto or motorcycle, or bicycle. Plus, don't forget the instruction manual for that special project. There are even talking books and manuals now.
Do you want to keep it light and fun, then stay away from the pet things that grow hair on them, g string underwear and gifts to yourself - like having your hair or nails done (cheapskate).
Fill a father's day gift basket with a group of small, less expensive gifts that bring smiles and laughter, like photo key chains, switchblade knives, heated mugs, novelty books, CD's, something handmade, a tuition certificate to take a class for his hobby or a lost pastime, binoculars for bird watching, hobby car kits or model building kits.
Gifts that are fun and unique will give dad hours of fun.
Food, Gourmet, Beer and/or wine, chocolate, diabetic, champagne, make for something to look forward to father's day gift ideas.
Sports nuts will always love authentic team jerseys, game tickets and a ride to and from the game - or if it's too far away, host a game party for them at their house or yours to be watched on TV.
Stay to clean up afterward or it's no treat for them. If you want the newest coolest then take a look at nitro cars and RC cars and/or trucks.
Golf is here to stay, same goes for fishing and hunting. Survival knives are a top pick for many. Not only are they used and appreciated, but they are often handed to the next generation as part of a collection. Start a collection or add to one.
Have it engraved and personalized as an added touch.
Have you said, "I love you, . . . Near Enough?"
Fathers Day Gift Ideas-Never Too Busy!
Do you have a busy, busy, busy father? Then a day at the spa - manicure, pedicure, massage to help him 'de-stress,' will score big father's day gift idea points!
Low on Money? Do it for him at home, but it's a gift, so set up like a professional!
Whatever your father's day gift idea, I remain convinced that the best gift of all time, that will be re-told through generations, is the gift of time.
Spend the day with dad, or your man and make the kids an active part of the day too!
And if it's flowers that you need, then you'll find some beautiful selections online.
You may think of your dad as intrusive and 'out of touch,' once in awhile, but when they are gone, you only have the memory. May yours be good ones!
Happy Fathers Day.

Excellent hub - poignant memories of your Dad. Mine has been gone 44 years but I miss him so frequently and remember the treasured moments. He was 42 when I was born - had mellowed after having 3 older kids and I was pretty special to him. His undivided attention to my childish accomplishments, his wisdom (well disguised to be easier to swallow), his genuine interest in things I shared with him as a teenager - all the things I can never forget but are etched in my heart as clearly as crystal. It's a good time to remember.
And the years with my adored George - he was fun to get gifts for, with so many varied interests - DEFINITELY NOT TIES! In fact he was lukewarm about shirts or other clothes unless they touched one of his special interests - like a ballcap from the Masters, a fishing vest or a Texas belt and gaudy silver buckle. LOL.
Thanks for sharing both your memories and the excellent gift suggestions!
