• Why are people so frantically looking for Sidney Crosby Cards?

I hear the Sidney Crosby Rookie card exploded in value since he scored the winning goal against the Americans in the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Sidney Crosby, is a 22-year-old Professional Canadian Hockey Player hottie!  As Captain of the Pittsburg Penguins, of the NHL (National Hockey League) , Crosby carries the torch for more than his fans!

He earned his reputation as 'one of the  most' highly thought of draft picks in hockey history by receiving the CHL (Canadian Hockey League) Player of The Year Award for both 2003-2004 and 2004-2005.  There may be Sidney Crosby cards out there for this era. 

During his junior league career, Crosby led his team to a berth for the 2005 Memorial Cup.  He is the youngest player and (only) teenager to win a scoring title in ANY Major North American Sports League.  Thirty-Nine goals and 63 assists in his first year had him finishing sixth in his first season with 102 points.  Second year stats list Crosby at 36 goals and 84 assists for a second season score of 120. 

Points and score combined plus hard work earned Sidney Crosby  the Art Ross Trophy, Hart Memorial Trophy, Lester B. Pearson Award (another coup - he is only the seventh player who has ever earned all three trophies in NHL history) and the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals.  

Hailed as a most valuable Player on many fronts only helped prepare Crosby for scoring the winning goal for the Gold in overtime (3-2) for his team Canada against the United States in the 2010 Olympics.  There is probably a Sidney Crosby card to commemorate this accomplishment. 

Don't get me wrong - I was born and raised in Oregon (American made), so it was with mixed emotion that I watched the game.  But, I went out and got some Sidney Crosby Cards anyway!  On the other hand I have a deep respect for all athletes and their dedication to their sport - That being said, Way TO GO Canada!

Being the youngest to receive such accolades should not be new to Crosby.  Since the age of two-years-old, he has been shooting pucks and was on skates by the age of three. 

MVP of the Week, the Month and the Year awards, broken records and top score statistics piled up for Crosby as he consistently led his teammates through to winning Cups and championship games.  No wonder the Sidney Crosby Card is so popular.

Crosby's jerseys have been auctioned off at 5-8 times what other player jerseys were auctioned for. 

To date, Crosby has auctioned his personal sweaters and jerseys to benefit Youth Hockey Charities, the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake Relief, Hurricane Katrina Relief, and Hockey Fights Cancer.   

Less Notable Awards - Whiner. I bet there are no Sidney Crosby cards for that.  Sidney was the first NHL rookie to earn 100 penalty minutes and 100 points in the same season.

Analyst Kelly Hrudey compared reports of complaining to NHL officials by Crosby as being much like those of Wayne Gretzky, but Hrudey added that maturity and time will diminish the stigma for being a whiner for Crosby.

When he missed shaking the hands of some of the Detroit players, media reps were quick to point it out after a comment from team forward, Kris Draper, was made about . . . "waiting to shake his hand." I think I've seen a Sidney Crosby Card that captured that instance.

When asked about his most memorable Hockey moment, Crosby says that it was . . . "winning the 2005 Junior Ice Hockey Championships. . . . "

Nominated for the Hart Memorial Trophy, for scoring 51 goals - beating his previous NHL high score by 12! The trophy is awarded to the player adjudged most valuable to his team - Crosby's nomination is certainly well deserved!

Make sure you at least know the market value of the card you are interested in buying. If you are looking at a card that doesn't describe the condition as “mint” or “near mint” then do not pay for that condition.

Yummy . . . . . mmmmmmmmmm . . . . . he is so cute . . . he is a really good hockey player and he deserves his success. . . . he has worked all his life for it. . . . he deserves it. . . girly squeals . . .more girly squeals . . . . You don't have to marry me, I just want a date . . . "

At 22 years old, Sidney Crosby has these trophies tied up - GQ and Vanity Fair photo shoots, an $8.7 million contract per year with a five year contract extension, and he was drafted as an NHL pick as a teenager!

People do recognize him for his exceptional hockey playing ability, but are quick to point out that he is still a young man - a 'kid,' some say.

I, for one, have to disagree with the 'kid' assessment.

Sidney Crosby is an accomplished athlete who knew practically from the time he was born that he wanted to play hockey and he has met his goals as only a true seasoned professional could. He has earned the right to all the glory and appreciation heaped on him.

He has earned his stars. He has earned the right to have his own Sidney Crosby Hockey Card. To date, the Sidney Crosby Rookie card is the most sought after NHL hockey card on the market. Good Job Crosby!
